Monday 2/2 thru Thrusday 5/2

Well as most of you know already last week started off with a familiar sight for those of us from Iowa. Snow covered streets and sidewalks. London, however, is not very familiar with this sight at all. In fact this was the most snow they have had in about 18 years. All the Londoners were fascinated with it and excited about it, while most of us thought that we would have been able to escape the snow. We only became excited about it when we found out that our classes for the morning were canceled. Due to the snow most of the tube system, the busses and taxi's were shut down. They have pretty much no snow removal services so all of the sidewalks and streets were covered in snow which then turned to ice. It all was gone later on in the week though so that was nice that it doesn't stick around as long as it does in Iowa!

We were able to make it to the Play that night, Duet for One. It was very very different from the musical we saw the week before. It was only 2 actors playing the role of a Violinist who got MS and her psychiatrist. Some parts got long but it was very good.

Tuesday and Wednesday I was able to make it to my internship with out too much of problems with the trains being delayed and I almost got on the wrong one but I got it sorted out! I observed in the Pre-assessment clinic and sat in on a nurse's aids course. Which would be similar to the CNA or PCT courses I took. It was interesting. I knew most of what they were talking about but it was still very good to see their perspective and what they thought about it.

We also booked our flight to Rome for our spring break trip. They were relatively cheap. We still need to find hostels to stay at. Right now the plan is to spend a few days in Rome and then go somewhere from there. We don't really know for sure though.
We also found train tickets for 8 pounds to Oxford so we are going there the last weekend in February. I am excited to see where Harry Potter was filmed and all of the stuff that goes along with that. It should be a good time to get out of London again.

  1. So, Tosha talked about hostels too, and described what they are, so I know what's going on there--but I can't help but look at that word and think of like, a Harem or something. LOL
